In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate

Our prophet (peace be upon him) said in the following hadith:

IF FIVE MALICE THINGS COME TO EXISTENCE

What happens to you when five bad things come to existence? I take refugee with Allah that you have these bad things or you live long to see them.
1- If adultery becomes widespread in a nation and is made openly, PLAGUE and some other illnesses that were unknown to the past generations are seen in that nation.

2) If a community does not depend in charity (zakah, alms), the rains from the sky cease.

3) If a community makes fraud in scales, they will be punished by FAMINE, ECONOMIC PROBLEMS, OPPRESSION AND INJUSTICE OF THE KING.

4) If their ruling class judge not with what Allah revealed, Allah Taala make their enemies annoy them and they take some of what they had in hand.

5) If a community neglects the book of Allah and sunnah of the Prophet, they start quarreling among themselves and fight with each other.

Each word of our true informer effendi (peace be upon him) is a miracle.

Those who fraud about weighing or measuring something suppose that they will make more money and get rich. However, the opposite happens. They incur to FAMINE and ECONOMIC PROBLEMS as stated above in part number 3 of the hadith. If one’s earnings are unlawful for Islamic aspect (haram), it is like soap bubbles at early stages, namely it seems ATTRACTIVE with THE IMAGE OF AFFLUENCE. But in his life he faces great difficulties. If some of the earnings are lawful (halal) and some unlawful, he keeps the money in hand for some time as much as the percentage of the halal part, he faces troubles and at the end the money inevitably leaves him. It is definite that UNLAWFUL MONEY IS GROUNDLESS and consequently useless.

However, the person who is exposed to abovementioned situations does not know the reality of it. In reality, everything is created and comes into existence by the will of Allah and they are created as recompense to his previous deeds. The justice of Allah Taala manifests as the acts of the AL-ADL (JUST) name of him. Through the troubles he sees the recompense of his previous HARAM (unlawful) incomes. THE WAY OF ALLAH, in other words THE LAWS OF ALLAH is in force in such a manner that everything occurs externally under a cause-effect relation. For instance he suffers from an earthquake, or flood, an avalanche disaster, traffic accident, a bad kid or is deceived by another unlawfully affluent like himself. Neither my strength is enough to count these, nor is the size of the book enough to allow it. The situation of each unlawfully affluent is different, but THEIR END IS ALWAYS THE SAME. They CAN NOT MAKE IT DURABLE. This time he starts fighting against the causes, sues the unlawfully affluent, becomes regular customer of the bailiff’s office, and looks for political solutions. He tries each alternative that are said a solution. The life is temporary and one day as a result of his being A BELIEVER OR AN UNBELIEVER he definitely faces one of the two SITUATIONS IN THE GRAVE as explained in the above HADITH.

 

THE ADULTERY BECOMING WIDESPREAD

FUHUS means in the dictionary to overstep the limit, transgressing the borders that the SHARI’A OF ALLAH TAALA HAD DRAWN. It refers to extramarital sexual relations, i.e. adultery.

The number one evil thing in the hadith above: If adultery becomes widespread in a nation, i.e. the majority of the community commits adultery, and live a life against the laws of Allah Taala, and if adultery is made openly, PLAGUE and SOME OTHER ILLNESSES THAT WERE UNKNOWN TO THE PAST GENERATIONS are seen in that nation. This is a miracle of our prophet (peace be upon him) and indicates the AIDS.

Adultery and prostitution occurred in all time periods humans lived. It is always something bad and it destroys generations. If it is spread to all community or made due to hunger, it threatens the whole community. It is like GANGRENE spreading everywhere in the body.

If charities are not given in a community, rains cease, and famine starts. Charity is the order of Allah and his allocation. His orders can not be questioned, because this takes the faith away and punished with execution. We can not argue about his allocation, too, as his all deeds are in compliance with JUSTICE.

ZAKAH (charity) means GROWTH, INCREASE, MULTIPLICATION AND CLEANSING. Its ratio differs for cash money, agricultural products, live stocks (animals), and trade. It’s most important feature is that by giving charity affluence does not decrease, on the contrary it INCREASES, GETS BLESSED AND CLEANSED. Have you ever seen any one who gave zakah and then has got poor? I saw a good person while he was addressing and making suggestions in a tea house to the villagers. He was saying: “I give you guarantee, even can give promissory note approved by notary, I will compensate whoever says I gave zakah and my properties decreased. He was right; he was a believer and got very rich through generosity.

A noble hadith is as follows:

“O WORLD, SERVE TO WHOEVER SERVES TO ME, TORMENT WHOEVER SERVES TO YOU.”

It is Allah Taala who created every thing in physical realm and IN THE UNSEEN REALMS. All creatures take their place in the divine order in accordance with the orders of ALLAH. THE ORDER OF ALLAH IS CARRIED OUT IN THE TWINKLING OF AN EYE. The world has to obey the above order that was given to it. It has been fulfilling this order from the day it was created.

As per the order it took, it serves to those who serves in the cause of Allah with sincerity and the belief of the community of sunnah. Those who are unaware of Allah and deify this world are in many preoccupations and distresses.

THOSE WHO NEGLECT THE BOOK OF ALLAH AND THE SUNNAH OF THE PROPHET END up in fight and struggle with each other. When we look at the book of the universe with an eye to take lesson, we see that the truthfulness of the word of THE TRUE INFORMER prophet (peace be upon him). Would the warlike situation and turmoil in Afghanistan, Iraq, and in the last decade Bosnia Herzegovina, Algeria, Tajikistan, and Macedonia and before them Bangladesh and Pakistan be not enough to draw lesson from?

As per the above-given hadith of the Prophet (peace be upon him), the life of the unbeliever in the grave after his death is like A PIT SIMILAR TO THE PITS OF THE HELL whereas the place of the believer is like A GARDEN RESEMBLING TO THE GARDENS OF THE PARADISE. As we explained their situation in details, those who are inattentive to religion must take this information as a moral admonition and must think about his end and correct his situation before THE DOOR OF REPENTANCE IS CLOSED.
Let us finish this chapter by the Qur’anic verse that describes the unbeliever’s going to the gathering place of all people, the arena of RECKONING after the Judgment Day and the resurrection. Here Judgment day (QIYAMA) means the removal and collapse of the order we experience and the replacement of the life and its conditions with a NEW DIVINE ORDER.

The verse is as follows:

“ON THE DAY WHEN THEY ARE DRAGGED INTO THE FIRE UPON THEIR FACES (IT IS SAID UNTO THEM): FEEL THE TOUCH OF HELL” (SURAH AL- QAMAR, VERSE 48)

 

THE IMPORTANCE OF THE DEGREE OF EXISTENCE

We mentioned in the SUBJECTS that has been explained in the chapters so far the degrees of existence either openly or indirectly. Degree means rank and stage. As per the rule that EVERYTHING IS KNOWN WITH ITS OPPOSITE, the opposite of existence is non-existence. If one knows inexistence, he can know existence. According to the Islamic- Sufistic view and the explanations that the theory of the BIG BANG is based on, ALL REALMS AND OBJECTS DID NOT EXIST...THEY CAME TO EXISTENCE BY APPEARING AT A LATER TIME. Therefore the known and visible qualities of the creatures and all material objects under the conditions of the world we live in prove their existence.

A European thinker saying “I THINK, THEREFORE I AM” is another expression of the same truth.

BEING is the being of ALLAH DHUL JALAL, the only God. The words and behaviors that violate the quality of his ONENESS either openly or secretly or by inattentiveness come to mean in ascribing partners to the God, which is considered the biggest sin by the Islamic rules.

Even though all creatures appear and continue to live in the forms and objects special to themselves, belief in their not having an independent existence and proving this is an expertise on its own. The branch of this issue in the religious sciences is THE SCIENCE OF SUFISM (TASAWWUF).

There is satisfying information in the section of ‘the truths of nafs’.

The Mawlid says:

“THE COMING ONE IS THE SULTAN OF THE MYSTIC KNOWLEDGE,
THE COMING ONE IS THE SOURCE OF THE KNOWLEDGE OF TAWHED (UNITY)”

The mystic knowledge is mentioned in the verse below:

“WE HAD TAUGHT HIM KNOWLEDGE FROM OUR OWN PRESENCE”

According to this Qur’anic verse, mystic knowledge comes to existence by Allah’s teaching his servant personally. The recipient here is the Prophet Muhammad. With this knowledge, it is notified him that Allah is the owner of the sole being.

The scholars that follow the tasawwuf teaching of the community of sunnah are the recipients of this kind of knowledge. The hadith saying SCHOLARS ARE THE HEIRS OF THE PROPHETS expresses this truth.

According to the expressions of the saints of Allah that are firmly grounded in knowledge:

THOSE WHO DO NOT KNOW THE DEGREES OF EXISTENCE HAS NO COGNIZANCE
THOSE WHO ARE NOT AWARE OF IT MAY NOT BE DEEMED AS SERVANTS OF ALLAH.

As stated in the section of the truth of the soul, the firs revealed verse of the Qur’an (Surah Al-Alaq) says READ: IN THE NAME OF THY LORD WHO CREATED. The purpose of reading something is to get knowledge from it, in other words, the order of READ includes the order of KNOW in its content. For instance if you say somebody ‘write a letter’, this order comprises also of getting a paper and pen. There is no need to say ‘get a pen and paper, etc.’ Likewise, the divine order that says ‘Read in the name of your Sustainer who created’ expresses the meaning of ‘KNOW YOUR SUSTAINER WHO CREATED’ that is ‘know his existence’. Therefore, in order to know many Islamic orders and judgments, KNOWING THE EXISTENCE OF ALLAH IS A PREREQUISITE. This is THE FIRST OBLIGATION (fard) to know before all other obligations (fards):

As our author stated in his oral preaching, this is also to achieve the main purposes to come to this world and to be created as a human. One of these two purposes is the truth he described as GETTING COGNIZANCE of Allah, KNOWING ALLAH and the other one being WORSHIPPING as notified in Surah Al Fatihah as THEE (ALONE) WE WORSHIP; THEE (ALONE) WE ASK FOR HELP and consequently achieving GOOD MORALITY.

 

THE ADVANTAGES OF KNOWING THE DEGREES OF THE EXISTENCE

By knowing the degrees of existence, all cognizance and religious judgments are attained. However, this cognizance is the information in the HAKKAL YAKÎN (THE TRUTH OF CERTAINTY) that requires knowing well the truths of everything which attained through studying carefully. As a matter of fact, mentioning the degrees of the existence in our explanations so far was necessary for the understanding of the issue in hand. As follows:

1- Knowing the Essence of humans

Human being has the wish and ardent desire to get satisfying knowledge about knowing his existence, leaning the reality of from where he comes and where he goes to, what is his essence and origin.

According to the TASAWWUF-THINKING system that is the essence of the religion of Islam and can be named also the Islamic philosophy, the species of human, has come to the level of life in the PYSICAL REALM that we live in by deigning from different degrees of the existence of Allah and by becoming more condensed upon arriving at each lower degree from each corporeal upper degree. The mentioned information has been attained after knowing the existence of these degrees.

2) Cognizance of ALLAH in proportion to one’s capabilities

As humans live in the conditions of the world after deigning from the existence of God, his knowing Allah Taala is compulsory. According to our venerable Visali Sultan, ALLAH EXISTS WITH HIS SELF, EMBRACES WITH HIS ATTRIBUTES, APPEARS BY HIS ACTS, KNOWN BY HIS NAMES AND WITNESSED BY HIS WORKS (i.e. seen by the arts he created). There are details in the section of the truths of Nafs and Soul. The subject of the unity of existence will be dealt with in the section five.

3) Cognizance of the prophet of Allah (peace be upon him)

In the Islamic catechism books are written the details of the life of the prophet before and after his apostleship started, of his physical appearance (bodily characteristics), his authentic (wajib) attributes which proves his being sent as by Allah, that is the terminological meanings of the attributes of TRUSTWORTHINESS (AMANAH), TRUTHFULNESS (SIDQ), WISDOM AND HIGH INTELLIGENCE (FATANAH), BEING SINLESS (‘ISMA), TABLIGH (CONVEYING THE DECREES OF ALLAH TO HUMAN BEINGS), his being the head of a family and being the president of the state and commander of the army, his private life, his judgments on religious rules, HIS PRAYERS, CONDUCTS (IMPLEMENTATIONS), SANCTIONS AND HIS ACTIONS OF MUKALLAFEEN (THE ACCOUNTABLE MUSLIMS) and his judgments related to them.

It is quoted that the Venerable Abu Bakr said: “O PROPHET OF ALLAH, THEY LOOK AT YOU, BUT THEY DO NOT SEE”. This does not mean they do not see by physical eyes, but they do not know and can not see THE TRUTH OF MUHAMMAD by their sagacity eyes.

A mature person wrote the following poem:

THIS WORLD IS A MIRROR, EVERYTHING IS STANDING WITH ALLAH
ALWAYS ALLAH IS SEEN THROUGH THE MUHAMMAD MIRROR

Our spiritual master the venerable Visali used to say in his oral preaching; as the venerable Qur’an was sent down by a GREAT to another GREAT, one of its names is the GREAT QUR’AN. He also said, Al-‘AZIM (The Incomparably Great) is the name of Allah, the name AZIM (GREAT) is the name of the prophet. A noble verse in the Qur’an expressing the mentioned truth says:

“Indeed, there has come unto you a GREAT Messenger from amongst yourselves” (Surah At-Tawba, 9/128)

The venerable wajib Taala ATTRIBUTES his own name AZIM (great) to his valuable prophet.

In short, knowing the degree known as THE TRUTH OF MUHAMMAD and its mystic side is possible with the guidance of THE DEGREES OF EXISTENCE.

4) Cognizance of the life in the afterlife

The venerable Visali said that there are 1333 noble verses in the Qur’an about the afterlife and the life in the grave. This is the detailed description of the stations that are summarized as: death, the life in the grave, resurrection, transferal to the arena for the last judgment, the last judgment, reckoning, scale, passing through the Bridge, human rights, the rights of the parents. Each station has more privileged structure, conditions, situations and images compared to the previous station. It has the attribute of the continuation of the degrees of existence. We will elaborate it in a special section.

5) Cognizance of the unity of existence, knowing the being is only ONE

A) With the judgments of the noble Qur’an:

Allah decrees:

“He it is that encompassed all things” (Surah An-Nisa 4/126)

Allah invented and surrounded everything, namely the whole universe with his knowledge – existence.

All realms and things in the order and content of the universe with their objects, living beings and parts were created from an infinite SINGLE BEING and appeared and ramified. Another noble verse that verifies the truth of the unity of existence can be translated as follows:

“...and unto Him the whole matter will be returned.” (Surah Hûd 11/123)

“Everything returns to its origin”

It would be more appropriate to translate as ALL THINGS AND REALMS THAT ARE SEEN AS MANY TURN INTO A SINGLE ORIGIN. As WATER, A SINGLE SUBSTANCE turns to steam, fog, cloud, rain, snow and hail through chemical and biological change, when it comes across heat or cold it turn into its original version WATER through a second biological transformation.

It is said as follows, inspired by Muhyiddin Ibn’ul Arabi:

“The concepts of EXISTENCE AND INEXISTENCE are opposite of each other. As existence does not accept inexistence, inexistence does not accept existence. In other words those who are non-existent do not exist, those who exist do not be non-existent.

Everything and every object come into existence from an existing object. For instance in the example above; steam, fog, cloud, rain, snow come to existence from water. This is like the appearance of shadow because of the existence of the owner of the shadow. This is “a judgment made by transmission from the effect to the cause”. The mentioned thinking method requires the acceptance of our relative existence having come to existence from the true wujud that existed beforehand. Thus, the venerable Allah Taala that has the true wujud exits.”

B- Spiritually Discovered- Unseen proofs

I remember our spiritual master the venerable Visali having said in one of his speeches.

As SCIENCE (technological and astrological knowledge) improves, faith gets stronger. Until Islamic Truths and Perfections come true (by the knowledge of technology and astrology) scientifically, the judgment day does not come. Istanbul would belong to Muslims until the Judgment day”.

1-After our Prophet (peace be upon him) returned from the MI’RAJ, the unbelievers asked some questions about the Masjid ul Aqsa in order to test him if he rally saw it. They asked about the INTERIOR STRUCTURE, the doors and windows and other properties of Masjid ul Aqsa and the prophet saw it THROUGH SPIRITUAL DISCOVERY and ANSWERED THEIR QUESTIONS CORRECTLY. This happened though seeing the corporal structure of the heart in its spiritual part, by way of spiritual discovery, not physical seeing. This seeing looks like the scenes in the dreams and also the images in television.

A hadith quoted by BAYHAQI says:

“THE QURAISH TRIBE GAVE ME THE LIE WHEN THEY HEARD I MADE A TRAVEL AT BAYT UL MAQDIS (THE HOUSE OF HOLINESS) IN A SMALL PART OF THE NIGHT. UPON THIS I STOOD UP AT HIJR (A PLACE IN FRONT OF KAABE). ALLAH BROUGHT BAYT UL MAQDIS AND PUT IN FRONT OF ME AND I INFORMED THEM ABOUT ITS ALL SIGNS BY LOOKING AT IT.”

2- The Venerable Hadrath Umar was reading khutbah (Sermon delivered in the masjid on Fridays) in Medina Munawwarah, then all of a sudden, he exclaimed: HEY SARIYAH! RETREAT BEHIND THE MOUNTAIN.. Sariyah was the commander of the army of Islam in Iran at the time and the army was at rest. The Iranian army surrounded them and they had the danger to be destroyed fully. Even though the distance between Medina and the battle field was more than 1000 kilometers, Hadrath Sariyah, the commander of the Islamic army, heard the voice of Umar and collected the soldiers together and retreated behind the mount and thus saved the army from destruction.

This legendary incident is known by one of the miracle-like deeds of the Hadrath Umar. As there were many Muslims in the masjid at the time, and none denied this information, the occurrence of this incident is certainly true. This one and similar deeds (miraculous ones) happened many times so far and those who are capable still have this kind of deeds in our time, too. We abstain from writing more in order not to expand the size of the book.

The spiritual maturity and sagacity of Islam as mentioned above now happens in our time materially with the images of TELEVISION AND THROUGH WIRELESSES AND RADIOS.

As the venerable Visali put it correctly, the truth of Islam that appears as MIRACULOUS DEED AND SAGACITY now is materialized by televisions, a product of science and technology. The similar ones will continue until the judgment day… They are known only by those who are capable and many times they are not allowed to disclose.

When we compare these two situations – scientific one and unseen one, we see that their basic structure, their origins and their appearance place differ.

Telephone and television have a material structure, when the material is broken down, they do not work any more. From this aspect they do not offer continuity, because all objects with material structure incurs change by the effects of air, fire and water and lose their original state.

Those who achieve the Islamic maturity, in other words who reach to the degree of PERFECT HUMAN do not lose their ability to see (as Umar), and to be recipient of many gifts and miraculous deeds. Theirs is continuous. It is a GRANT of Allah to His servant. The grants that are given to the servants from the divine treasury are not taken back. This is the way of and the law of Allah.

If one asks there were the cases of abandonment of Islam as a religion in the history of Islam. For instance some people did not believe the miracle of Mi’raj, some people did not want to pay charity (zakah) during the caliphate of the venerable Abu Bakr and converted even though they had embraced Islam beforehand. The biggest blessing is to be honoured with Islam. Does not leaving this great blessing come to mean taking back a grant that had been given from the divine treasury? Is not there a contradiction here?

In reality this is not a contradiction.

Because the reality of faith is TO ACKNOWLEDGE the six conditions of Amentu (the Islamic creed) by THE TONGUE AND CONFIRM THEM BY HEART and the affirmation of the heart is essential. It is known that hypocrites say with their tongue that they are muslims, but they do not verify this by their heart, i.e. they do not believe in Islam in heart. If god gives permission, we will explain this issue in the section of the TYPES AND DEGREES OF FAITH.

The verses in the Qur’an:

“(TO THE RIGHTEOUS SOUL WILL BE SAID): "O (THOU) SOUL, IN (COMPLETE) REST AND SATISFACTION! COME BACK THOU TO THY LORD, - WELL PLEASED (THYSELF), AND WELL-PLEASING UNTO HIM!
ENTER THOU, THEN, AMONG MY DEVOTEES!
YEA, ENTER THOU MY HEAVEN!” (SURAH AL FAJR, 89/27-30)

The SOUL IN SATISFACTION as mentioned in the verse is the degree of passing to the heart and achieving satisfaction in the truths of faith. There are some signs of reaching this maturity.

Heart is the centre of the faith. Faith settles and flourishes there. Language/tongue is its translator. The thoughts that exist in heart potentially appear in external realm through the tongue. That is why it is said that the essence of the faith is THE CONFIRMATION BY HEART. The believer that reaches to this degree ascends to the DEGREE OF MUTMAINNAH (SOUL, IN (COMPLETE) REST AND SATISFACTION) and Allah promises that such people will BE INCLUDED AMONG HIS REAL DEVOTEES AND ENTER THE HEAVEN.

In the noble Qur’an:

“ALLAH'S PROMISE IS THE TRUTH” (SURAH AN-NISA, 4/122)

The promise of Allah is true and He will definitely keep his word. Another verse says.

“ALLAH NEVER FAILS IN HIS PROMISE” (SURAH AAL-I IMRAN, 3/9)

Thus we proved with definite evidences that our assertion that showed that the gifts Allah granted to his servants from his divine treasury are continuous and not taken back.

Nafs has seven degrees and the first three of them there is danger.

NAFS AL-AMMARAH (the commanding self, nafs that urges evil) is the first degree. Nafs natiqah has the ATTITUDE AND CHARACTERISTICS (MORALITY) of the wildest animals (whose fleshes are not edible) at this degree: to understand the truth of this expression one should check the characteristics of the following animals in the zoology books: Lion, tiger, leopard, lynx, jackal, wolf, fox, scorpion, snake, dog, eagle, shark etc. Their most visible attribute is lack of mercy. They kill, break into pieces, and eat the ones they kill. You can not talk to them. In every century humans with characteristics of above cited and the like animals live. They are human with their shape and wild animals in temper.

The second degree is NAFS AL LAWWAMAH (The self-reproaching nafs). They are like domesticated animals whose fleshes are edible. For instance, sheep, cattle, goat, camel, duck, chicken, goose and the like. Their meat is eaten, but they do not eat meat. Their other characteristics will be explained in a special section. The person who has freed from Nafs al-ammarah (self that urges evil) with the help of Allah gets the characteristics the mentioned animals.

The third degree is NAFS AL MULHIMAH (the inspired self). This is the place where inspiration comes to humans. The thoughts and remembrances appear in his heart that resemble the attitudes and qualities of the wicked people, hypocrites, those who ascribe partners to Allah and unbelievers. The other side of this nafs looks at mutmainnah where thoughts about faith, Islam, good deeds, piety appear. The heart has not attained stability. Opposite inspirations comes one after another. There are verses in the Qur’an notifying the mentioned states at each degree. They will be explained in a special section. The humans that have the attributes of these three degrees are not the addressee of the verse of O (THOU) SOUL, IN (COMPLETE) REST AND SATISFACTION. They can not be the addressed people for the order: ENTER THOU, THEN, AMONG MY DEVOTEES!
YEA, ENTER THOU MY HEAVEN

The heart of the believer who reached to the degree of mutmainnah is enlightened, polished, brightened up and turn into a mirror. As a mirror reflects the shape of the object it has been pointed toward, the heart of a mature person, the saint of Allah, too, observes the places and objects he inquires curiously as images resembling to those in televisions. This is a spiritual gift and divine grant and continues for ever.

For instance, he can see (LIVE) the incidents that the prophets, whose stories are told in the Qur’an, experienced. For instance, the venerable Abraham breaking the idols, then being thrown into the fire, the fire not burning him… The venerable Moses, performing miracles with his staff, his staff swallowing up the ropes and the rods of the magicians, the magicians believing in Allah, the Pharaoh being drowned in the Red Sea and the like.

I personally hear from our spiritual guide venerable H. Kazım Kızılkanat:

I was reciting Surah Joseph in the noble Qur’an. I observed with eye of certainty all events that Joseph (peace be upon him) lived.

In our life with our bodily structure i.e. with intellect, consciousness, mind and memory we have the desire to investigate and learn what we do not know and to live again what we know in our past. The science of history is born out of this feeling. As our personality, level, intelligence and consciousness with us during the DREAMING in sleep, the same intelligence and consciousness and level continue our life after our DEATH.
